Ferentis is pleased to announce that its UK patent was granted for the invention entitled "Collagen Mimetic Peptide". The invention relates to a novel, collagen-mimicking construct that is based on assembling and chemically cross-linking synthetic peptides. Thus, the system resembles the hierarchical organization of ECM, at the same time displaying excellent optical and elasto-mechanical characteristics. The invention also discloses synthetic hydrogel and a corneal implant based on this material.
